Adios Uncle Mike, and other happenings in the sports world

Clippers’ head coach Mike Dunleavy stepped down this past Thursday after 6.5 seasons calling the shots. Literally. He leaves the position posting a career record of 215-325. with the Clippers currently in third place in the “forgataboutit youz don’t have a chance competing against the ” Pacific Western Conference. Luckily, uncle Mike will retain his job as the GM, so beers will still be free when I get to L.A.
In Baseball news, Kevin “what the hell will this guy do next” Millar signed a 1 yr MINOR LEAGUE contract with…the CUBS!??? Holy schnikees, was 2004 THAT long ago? And apparently CRACK is now being served in the NYY head office! Hank Steinbrenner actually went on record claiming that the NYY will repeat this year! Really, can you actually repeat with out JOHNNY DAMON? ( insert sarcasm here). Check out the pic below from Friday’s USA Today. 
Get used to seeing Damon swing a driver this year, unless of course of an injury to an existing left fielder who can’t throw to third in the air from mid field happens. Scott Boras must be the one supplying Steinbrenner with the free crack! Boras claims that 3 teams have shown interest in Johnny “2 hop” Damon. Exactly which fantasy league teams were those Scott???
And while I’m at it……What’s the amazing allure of Lane Kiffin exactly? a 34 yr old unproven cheating prick who’s career coaching record is 12-21!! no seriously…someone please explain!!!! Rick Riley says it best in this month’s FAN ISSUE of ESPN the magazine. Riley rants “It’s been bad news for USC football fans who just lost …Carrol..replaced him with Kiffin, an unproven, scatter mouthed, rule breaking….Kiffin’s leaving the Vols was especially bad news for his 1 yr old, Monte Knox Kiffin, whose middle name is an homage to Knoxville. Honey, do you have the white out? Maybe we can pencil in “Troy” on the birth certificate.” NICE NATIONALLY PRINTED HECKLE , RICK!!!!! My compliments to the chef!!!

O.K. so NOT really Breaking News…… but, you must have heard by now that USC has received verbal commitment from a 13 year old 7th grader. This kid is 5′7″ tall and weighs in at a whopping 136 pounds. He plays QB in MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!! He’s committing to major colleges before he has his “Bobby Brady” voice changing experience????? WTF!! Is this world coming to!

New born baby commits to Notre Dame. Reports say that while being held by recruiters that were at the house talking with the babies older brother, the baby, a 1 month old with obvious talent, blew a snot bubble when asked if he wanted to go to ND too!!!

~~Bill Buckner said he would have used steroids, were they available. And a bigger glove.
~~The UConn women’s basketball team has now won 61 straight games. 62 if you count the victory against the New Jersey Nets.
~~Assistant coach Del Harris has decided to leave the New Jersey Nets. Just a few months after the fans.
~~Knicks president Donnie Walsh has said he doesn’t plan to trade any of his players before the deadline. After all, why mess with perfection?
~~And the New York Jets have fined Rex Ryan $50,000 for flipping the bird at an MMA event. Ironically it was the classiest gesture of the entire evening.

This Heckler has got something to say to the NON-Superfans at West Virginia!!!! What are you all thinking? Throwing bottles and coins onto the court! That’s INSANE!
Note To Self: If ever at a game and have the urge to throw a projectile onto the court that may KILL someone…..DON’T!
On a more up beat note. I love Chad OCHO CINCO Johnson! He does it all…including Superbowl Media Day!!!! “Prime Time” lets him know with a little style that he’s STILL the man!

Tomorrow night the Celtics take on the 4-44 N.J. Nets in Boston at The Gaaaaaaahden!! The Nets 4 wins so far has buried them on the radar in the N.J. area. At suggestion of the Nets fans they have agreed to run Jersey Shore re-runs on the Jumbotron during games to give them something to watch!
Every fan gets in free to the next home game if the Nets can manage to score more than the Guidos & Guidettes on the show. No free tickets have been awarded!!!!!
Yeah, yeah, news is news. There has been a Baseball related SUPERFAN submission. This guy is over the top! So worthy of recognition that I almost posted it in the Hot Soup. Check it out.
